Discover Bank is sending out intimidating letters to their clients, demanding their citizenship and employment information, based on some vaguely mentioned (or made up) government guidelines, the sources of which they should have quoted, but didn't.

Discover Bank is a private company, not a government institution, so they have no right to demand such very personal information, unless they precisely quote, which law, paragraph and item permits them to ask us for these data.

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT

  1. Would you comply with such a questionable demand based on vague references by Discover Bank?
  2. Isn't Discover Bank violating our privacy rights by doing surveillance on behalf of the government?
  3. So what's next? Will they want our past employment and salary history, too?
  4. What, if a client only has a green card and employers not liked by Discover Bank? Won't this open up a Pandora's box of discrimination by the bank against certain clients?
  5. If we let Discover Bank get away with this, don't you think, that other banks will follow the same phony invasion method into our privacy?
  6. Don't you think, Judicial Watch should sue Discover Bank and their accomplices in government, if any?
  7. Don't you think, Discover Bank should screen their own employees first, before screening others, because they hired employees, who can't even read and write? See: "Simply call , or the number" What kind of garbage is that?! Did an elementary school third-grader write this letter?
  8. Don't you thinkm, it's time to close your account at Discover Bank and move your funds somewhere else?
